Why Deeper Learning?
When students are passionate about the work they’re doing, they’re closer to defining their purpose. It’s imperative educators find ways to get kids deeply involved in the work, and then have them publish, display, perform, and/or share their work through a medium of their choice to a wider audience. These mediums vary from podcasts to tri-folds, from documentaries to speeches, from group-poetry-performances to robot battle royales- to theatrical productions where students lead at every level from page to stage.
This is education that matters. It’s beyond the test. It’s beyond the classroom. And a school-event that encourages every teacher and student in the building to showcase learning that is exhibition worthy is a Deeper Learning Exhibition (DLE).
DLEs help kids launch themselves and their work into the global world: engaging the social, political, environmental, scientific, and technological contexts of our times. This work transforms kids and school cultures. It’s an event where kids own the stage, exhibiting how they creatively apply their knowledge and skills revolving around the arts, sciences, and communities they inhabit.
